OVERVIEW
The Similan Explorer is a classic wooden hulled budget Similan liveaboard boat. At 25m in length, with 3 decks there is ample space for a maximum of 20 divers. Although the boat spends plenty of time diving around the famous Similan Islands, diving at the Surin Islands is an additional 5 day trip highlight.
The Surin Islands are fringed with healthy reef ecosystems and feature quieter beaches, one of which is home to the Moken, adding a cultural aspect to your liveaboard. As well as longer 5 day trips there are also shorter 3 day trips scheduled if you are short only holiday time.
DIVING
The dive team on board the Similan Explorer are seasoned professionals, many have been working on the boat for a number of years. They go that extra mile to ensure you get the most out of your dives, like timing their schedule to avoid other boats at peak times and jumping in at less dived areas of dive sites to improve your chances of larger marine life encounters.
The Similan Explorer is also an excellent platform for continuing your diving education offering a full range of PADI courses. The boat’s owner is often onboard, your final reassurance that all activities will be conducted to the highest possible standards.
UW PHOTOGRAPHY
Award winning underwater photographer Richard Carey is onboard the Similan Explorer for most of her scheduled trips. As well as documenting your Similan liveaboard with a selection of dazzling underwater photographs, Richard also offers photography courses for divers with underwater cameras.
Whether you are a ‘newbie’ just starting out with your camera or are already a camera owner with some experience looking to improve your skills, Richard’s courses do not follow the manual. He teaches you what you need to know drawing from his many years experience in the Similan Islands.
